Good Morning. Well, today's 4 weeks in the hospital and, as nice as the view may be, I think I've had enough. But because I'm still on IV, I can't leave just yet. We have to wait until I can switch to oral meds and that still depends on the condition of my gut. We're still waiting for the pathology reports, but the specimens were taken on Friday afternoon and not much gets done over the weekend. Hopefully we'll have some answers today.
I got my first decent night's sleep last night. Even though they wake you at 1AM and then again at 5AM, I was able to get a few real sleep hours in. I'm planning on walking the halls today, trying to regain my strength. It's getting better every day.
My blood counts are going up. I think I'm going to get a platelet transfusion today but that's not unexpected. The platelets are the last components to come up. They want to keep them up pretty high to reduce the chance of bleeding from that ulcer they found.
UPDATE: I just returned from an ultrasound. It seems that there are a number of cysts on my left ovary. They are nothing to worry about but should be followed up in a few months. This may have contributed to the abdominal pain the other night and morning. They're really covering all the bases.
I'm so grateful to all of you for your constant support. Knowing that you're out there, reading my blog, caring and praying for me makes me feel so good. Thank you.
Good Morning Leah, So happy you slept well last night. Soon you'll be sleeping in your own comfortable bed. We're also happy to hear that you're walking around more and more each day. We are all so proud of you and can't wait to see you. As always, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteHi there. So happy that you are feeling better and stronger. Before you know it you'll be off those IV's and home in your own bed/house. Thank G-d you numbers are still going up. Let's hear it for Avrum's critters.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Keith, males as in men. What other kind of males did you think we hung out with. Maybe don't answer that!!!!
Anyway, as always you are in our thoughts and prayers. Can't wait to see you and give you hugs.
Love you,
Shelly

ReplyDeleteSometimes another few days in the hospital for further observation is not so bad! I know that you are probably anxious to get out of the hospital away from all the tests, doctors, machines... and home and into your own bed, but I'm glad it worked out for the best. You will need your strength, and just think about it, BEEZRAT HASHEM you will have lots and lots of time to be in your house with your family and you will need the strength to really be there for them the way you like to always be there for everyone.
So do whatever it is your doing to regain you strength, and keep smiling!

Hi leah,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are making real progress. Is the ulcer related to the treatment or was it a pre-existing condition?Glad to hear that you are sleeping better. It will make a big difference in your recovery.
Love Gary/Randie
Not sure if the ulcer is from the chemo or part of GVHD. Waiting for the pathology report.
ReplyDeleteleah you sound great today, it's amazing what four consecutive hours of sleep can do and even more amazing how our standards of a good night's sleep can change. But thank G-d, sounds like things are really going in the right direction and hopefully soon enough you'll be blogging from home, hope you're planning on keeping up this blog, and whenthis whole ordeal is over, please G-d soon, you'll just have to keep us up to date with your boring normal life, which i'm sure we'll all be so happy to hear about. Let's keep praying tthat the pathology reports come out the way we want them too and all the findings from your very thorough doctors are simple and easy to deal with. Love to all, Jenny

Hi Leah, I know today is week 4 and all the hard part is over and now the recovery starts. You have been in my tefillot EVERY single day and I hope your strength comes back....I am sure you cant wait to go home but until you do, just hang in there. Say hi to Judie and Illana- Love, Limor
ReplyDeleteNo pic today??? Was the photographer off?? I guess I will just have to imagine your radiant smile and beautiful face without a new pic. You sound great so much better today and I am sure another few days in the hospital (and some more good meds) will not hurt. Don't forget to get an extra supply on those meds (ambian would be nice) for when you get home and can't sleep. Don't forget chanukah is coming up and a few pills are on my wish list. The top of my wish list (along with some gas from steve). OK..enough about me. Keep up the good work and lets hope you get excellent reports and all counts continue to go up so you can go home! I miss you, moonie. Hope you get another good nights sleep tonight. I am thinking of you.

Hi Leah, It sounds like the doctors are on top of things. Aren't you glad you have your computer at your fingertips to research the things your not too sure about. So between the coffee and the cortisone you'll have the best record in the hospital for doing laps. At least you can get out of your room. Maybe you should set up a table and sell your hats and scarves to the visitors and nurses. This way you'll have enough money to bribe your way out of the hospital. Just another wacky thought. I'm so glad you are getting stronger each day. B'H!!! After you get yourself settled at home I'll come over and try to beat you at playing Spite or Malice. Instead of peeling grapes for you I'll peel the wrappers of the chocolate bars. Oh, I hope you can have chocolate. Your smile keeps me going!! Love Buford xxx000xxx___________
