T+19

Hi. The sigmoidoscopy turned into a colonoscopy. They found a bunch of inflammation and an ulcer. These are caused by the chemo. They biopsied the tissue to rule out GvHD (Graft vs. Host Disease). Until the pathology report comes in, they are treating it as such. So I'm on Prednisone. The good part is that it's making me hungry. Luckily, I had a delivery of the finest homemade chicken soup this side of the Mississippi. (Can't begin to thank you enough, G). So far that's really all I've eaten since the procedure. They have me on clear fluids -- which is fine because I don't really want to eat the hospital food.

I haven't had any more pain, Thank God. I've been spending less time in bed. Sitting in the chair or walking the hall. They put me back on IV Tacro (instead of oral) because of the inflammation and absorption.

Happy Birthday Bunky!!!

  2. So glad that all they found is inflammation and an ulcer. Hopefully these are easily treated. Any idea when the pathology will come back.

Thank G-d you are feeling better and you are able to walk around more. Just keep doing what they tell you and you'll be walking around at home before you know it.

  7. First of all, I love the hat! Second of all, I am so happy to hear you are sitting up and walking around! I hope the colonoscopy wasn't too bad (the prep is the worst part!). Keep that smile on, busting it out helped me feel a little better sometimes. I just went in for an endoscopy the other day and they found 80% improvements since my first one. Yay! I wish the same for you with your recovery, as I know you will be better very soon!!
    Love,
    Amy Texas

  8. Leah,

I am glad to hear that everything is turning out o.k. and that you are no longer in pain. I am sure you will be home and on the complete mend very soon. I wish I could have some of that morphine right now. Keep the smile on your face and the rest will fall into place. I love the hat.

I guess writing will have to do for know. Everyone here is hoping for all good things for you. I called Illana the other day, I like getting the scoop from here also.
Well, you hang in there, and don't forget everyone is praying for and thinking of you.

Hope to actually see you in person soon!!

You have been on our minds and we are sending many positive thoughts your way, especially when we were walking on the beach this week at Fire Island. It sounds like you are getting stronger, we're so happy for that.
