Good morning. I'm feeling stronger today. Yesterday, I slept for practically the entire day. Mom had a theory. She said that the reason I was so exhausted was because all of my body's energy was going into making new cells. Well, let's hear it for Mom! I woke up this morning and my WBC count was 2.0!!! It's amazing.
The doctor said that I must start eating so, I had a few spoonsful of hot cereal this morning. There's a constant metallic taste in my mouth so everything tastes equally horrible. But if eating is a pre-requisite to going home, then eat I shall.
Speaking of going home...the idea is terrifying and, at the same time, very exciting. I can't imagine how it will be. I know it's going to take a long time until I start getting some real energy back and I'll be doing a lot of resting. I'm so lucky that Mom said she's going to come stay with me. That took a ton of worry off my mind. I'll be going home with the central line still in place that will need special care. Also, all of the meds that I'm now getting IV are going to have to be continued by mouth. I don't think it's going to be an easy road, but I'm up for the challenge.
Thank you for your patience on the days when I post 3 words! And, please continue to keep me in your prayers.
GREAT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT UP!!!
Try to get some calories in you. My suggestion is items that have the most nitrition and calories in the smallest volume. Tasting good would also help.

Hi Leah,
ReplyDeleteThis post comes to you all the way from SOUTH AFRICA. I just completed my 18th chemo treatment last Thursday (through a port in my chest) & I am recovering in my Mommy's bedroom...even tho I am a Mommy myself BH BH.
I was Aliza's teacher at HALB in 5th Grade and just last nite I was lying in bed thinking about Illana and today when I opened Facebook I saw she had added me as a friend. Then I was looking at her profile and I learned about you...
I think it is "yad Hashem" that brought us together. I just want you to know that you are now at the top of my tefilla list, challah baking etc. and I will keep you in mind 24/7...because I also deal with the insomnia..... and the nausea....I'm a huge fan of Zofran and Emend - I find Emend much more effective.
Anyway, I will try to give you chizuk in whatever way I can from far away here...and share some symptom relieving tips with you (I have lots!)
Will write much more when I have the strength P.G. Right now, I'm wiped......
Keep up your fighting spirit -it will get you through....That's whats getting me through... And having a Mommy and family at my side which I see you BH do...
Please ask Illana to e-mail me at phidlevy@aol.com with her phone numbers so I can be in touch.
Sending you healing love from afar,
Devorah Leah bat Michal Levy
PS Please give Aliza a special hug from me when you see her... her Morah Levy!
Behind every great girl stands a great MOM! So here's for you Mrs. Weissman, you AMAIZING!!!
ReplyDeleteMay Hashem give you strength to to what ever it is you want to do, the wisdom to always say the right things, and tooooooooons of Jewish NACHAT!
And now for the amazing daughter!
This is fantastic news I needed some good news, the passed 2 weeks have been sort of a downer. You look great and what ever it is you need to do to get stronger, you do it! If its sleep so sleep, if its food, try some, the shakes sound like a good idea, and if its smiling I know you have no problem in the department.
you do your part and we will constantly do ours!
REFUA SHLAIMA BEKAROV!!!!

This is the best news I think I have ever heard and the picture is certainly the best picture I've ever seen. Baruch Hashem you both look wonderful and strong. It's those strong Sensor/Singer/Wiseman geans running through your bodies. I look forward to you getting stronger every day and I can't wait for you to come home.

Hi Leah, We are so happy to read that your counts are going up as they should be and B"H this means that you are on the road to a full recovery. YAY!!! We will certainly continue with our prayers for you. Alice and Harold
ReplyDeleteOMG that is great news! B'H!! I'm so happy I have tears in my eyes. I can't stop looking at your picture. You both look great. Little baby steps will get you there. Some days will of course be better than others. Eat bubala eat you need to get big & strong! When you come home please put me on the schedule of helpers. I don't do windows but I can keep your glass & your belly full. I also do good pillows, I have had alot of experience. Your coming home present will be a bell..wait a minute, I have a better idea what about a megaphone. I'm sure David would love that! Just kidding!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I saw Dr Sitner today..she's the best. The novacaine lasted for hours and I couldn't feel the right side of my face. I wonder if that is the way Joan River feels. LOL! I'll keep praying for you as always LH&K Beth
Everything tastes like metal? Sure they didn't put braces on your teeth when you were knocked out? --That's how everything tasted when I got my braces..
ReplyDeleteYitz T
Wow 2! B"H!! Love those rising white cells and the smiling women in that amazing picture. Trick of the trade is don't eat something you like-basically try something new. Your taste buds have changed and your are expecting a certain taste so venture out and try something new. Ask for the flavor of ensure or high calorie drink you have never tried before. Also try to keep a sucking candy or lollipop in your mouths all the time. Sours seem to go over best!! Just keep counting cells amd iy"h you will slowly be able to force yourself to eat and drink. Just like the tzaddikim you can eat and drink for the mitzva and obligation not the desire :)))))
ReplyDeleteall our prayers and hugs

Yay Judes!!!! so happy to see you. It;s been so long. You are amazing!! You are a wonderful role model for us all. Your love, devotion nurturing personality and determination is overwhelming. You have given so many of us following Leah's progress peace of mind knowing she is in your care. I have to apologize to you Judes for not calling enough. Sometimes it was because i was caught up in day to day stresses and other times I didn't want to bother you or take you away from Leah. Now that the word "home" has returned to our lips, I hope to make it up to you.
ReplyDeleteLeah, today's news is music to my ears. I couldn't be happier. I know with each passing day you will grow stronger and stronger. We are all looking forward to seeing you soon.
All My Love,
Deena
