Friday

Hi. Sorry I really haven't written too much lately. As has been previously reported, I'm pretty tired, my stomach is bothering me and I'm eager to start seeing things going the other way. My counts are still dropping - almost bottoming out. I'm eager to start feeling stronger and I know it's just a matter of one day or another day.
Thanks to all of you, far and wide for your encouraging words, thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to Amy from Texas for a very special teddy bear!
Mom went home yesterday afternoon and will be coming back in a little while. I can't imagine going through this without having her here. I know that there are many people who go through this alone, and I pray for them to have the strength it takes. David spent the night here. He doesn't look too worse for the wear.
More later.

  1. Leah, I can't imagine what you describe. I'm sure each day feels like an eternity, but your attitude is right on..it's just a matter of a relatively short time when things will begin to turn around and you will begin to feel better. Hang in there, you have the best support! BTW, years ago when I was in ninth grade and my parents went to Israel, I was supposed to stay with a friend of mine, but instead I only wanted to stay with your mom. She was the next best thing to having my own mom around. Good Shabbos to you and family.

    Love,

  5. I did the shopping thing too and thought of you while watching people doing what they thought was so important -- getting that sale item, the right toy etc. To them they figure those were the most important things a-happening.

You are showing us how strong someone can be when dealing with yet more important issues. I pray that soon you will be well enough to lose yourself in as mundane as what is on sale in Macys and is getting up at 4AM early enough!

  6. hi a very good shavua tov 2 u
    i hope shabbs was ok
i read your post of fri am .....well lets just say we all hope you're doing much better
i once heard that in order 2 write something , a person should first have all his thoughts clear and then he'll be able to convey a message.
Lately i find myself constantly thinking of things to write and in just the right way, so it shd come out just right
But leaving all that aside 4 the moment i wanted to tell you about a piece of TALMUD a small passage from our sages
that is so apropos i just could not let it go by
here we go---------the talmud tells us about a pot salesman who goes thru the streets of the town yelling
all about his pots and proclaiming how good they are OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY (hey what else)
But for this person trying to make a sale, that's just not enough!!!! he wants to prove 2 everyone how good they are.
    So what does he do?
he looks over all his inventory, chooses one of the best ones--- one that he knows for sure will be able to withstand his test
his extra special test and he bangs on it proving how strong it is.and sure enough the pot holds up
AND THAT is exactly how the rebono shel olom acts with us HE in HIS infinate wisdom knows exactly
who to test and who cd withstad HIS special attention and thats the person who he chooses to be THE ONE to prove to
the whole world how great HE is.
    The example is self explanatory.
..CHAZAL tell us that the word NISOYON which means test, carries with it a second meaning----one which is so meaningful
we all kno that HASHEM only tests someone who HE knows will b able to withstand his test
if so couldn't we just forgo that step? Obviously the answer is no but why????
The answer is the following---- the person who is put thru the ordeal is being raised to lofty heights thru the process
and that is the other meaning of the word nisoyon
it also means to rise or rather to be lifted and raised above all else
Just like we find in the Torah when it speaks of the tests given 2 Avrohom -----but well leave that 4 next time
feel good you're constantly in our thoughts and in all our tfillos
you shd have a complete and speedy recovery a real real refuah shelaimo
draw strength from knowing how hashem is with you and cares for you and worries for you
and is with you every step of the way. we even know that hashem is found at the head of the
beds of people who aren't well which makes you -----in short---- very close to u kno hoo
be strong so that you'll continue being an inspiration for all those around u and for all those who have joined
    your "family" of late
    see u soon bye
